A tribe are beating drums in a rhythm calling home,
Painted metal artifacts among the painted stones,
A choir at once human and nothing I have known,
Notes stirring currents in the seat of nature’s throne.
A soul repaired that sees through time, casting with a rhyme,
Somehow in the present, we hear its faintest chime.
Confusion melts to poignancy and a memory returns,
Doubts shatter, stunned awe at wisdom still unearned.
Behind the mind the tears somehow unite to flow me home,
Converging streams of sleeping souls, turn pages on a tome,
Trees pour from blackness, pure innocence inside,
See an Eden born in wonder, awakened from the ice,
The image is first sad, though a crack in time slips through,
First shame, then acceptance, of a love we all once knew,
Fragments of reality, mana from the sky,
I know I see illusions, I clutch at them and cry,
Yet somehow eternally the call home never dies,
Our friends from the future call us to their side,
Hope springs eternal, saying “if you only knew”
Theres no way out of where you are, but there is a way through
The mind conjures many, inside oneness that you know,
Yet we pretend we don’t see, a divine play, a show
A playful mother, never lost yet dramatically returns,
Safety and innocence and all else I had spurned,
Let me breath the water of the endless lake’s expanse,
The dam breaks, my heart wakes, a wail becomes the trance
They call to us, they sing to us, they send their warm embrace,
A thousand suns illuminate, but it’s something I can’t face,
I remember now, frail and mortal, what I am to do,
I get mixed up in how to know, or who or how to choose,
Yet the rhythm’s not forgotten, it pours out of your eyes,
Behind illusion’s order, in the magical night skies,
But now enticing poltergeists transfix mortal minds,
Yet disappear when I hear the drumming sent through time
Amid the garbled goblins madness
Life shockingly arrives
The seeds of the dark fantastic
Are now already vines
